Ian and Mike are passionate Salmon anglers and tutors who care for their quarry and its fragile environment.

Ian Neale is an expert fisher, casting tutor, writer, photographer, and fishing guide. He was head guide on the Ponoi River on the Kola peninsula in Russia. This is arguably the best Salmon fishing river in the world. He was also head guide on the Rio Grande, in Tierra Del Fuego, home to some of the finest Sea Trout fishing in the world. He has very extensive experience in game fishing on many continents and is an expert fly caster. He has extensive knowledge of fishing in his beloved Scotland and has organised annual fishing parties on Speyside for the past 14 years. He has written extensively on game fishing in a variety of UK magazines over the years and published his first book, Shadows in the Stream, in 2000. His best Salmon was 28½ pounds from the River Helmsdale, Sutherland in February 1982.

Ian has been working professionally as a guide and casting instructor since 1980 when he owned his own fishing lodge on the West coast of Scotland on the Isle Of Mull. He has extensive knowledge of all aspects of salmon, sea trout and trout fishing, from the smaller spate rivers and lochs of the West to the larger flowing rivers of the East.

Ian has also made a number of T.V. appearances with several fishing personalities around the World. He has featured on Sky TV Tightlines programme where he was filmed demonstrating the art and technique of single and double Speycasting on the River Dee in Aberdeenshire, on the Park Estate water. Ian appeared on Norway's TV 2 channel on the Good Morning programme, featuring the salmon fishing at Park on the River Dee on Royal Deeside. This was part of a travel programme capturing the delights of Scottish salmon fishing, golfing, historic castles and whisky galore! Recently he appeared on the BBC Landward programme, where he was interviewed on the Altyre beat of the Findhorn, featuring the resurgence of the wild Atlantic salmon stocks on the east coast rivers. The programme was very upbeat and highlighted the importance of this recovery on the prosperity of the local economies.

Mike Leach is an expert fisher, fly tier, casting tutor, photographer, writer and hospital doctor. He has had an affinity for fishing since the day he could walk and has fished for Salmon, Trout and Sea Trout throughout the UK. He has a love for the great outdoors and the wildlife of Scotland. His biggest Salmon was 25 pounds from the River Teith in September, 2006.

Ian and Mike met on the riverbank some years ago and have enjoyed very many fishing expeditions together, and with friends, since that time. They have fished together throughout Scotland and have many interesting stories to tell. Our philosophy is to preserve the Atlantic Salmon and its environment, to enjoy your fishing in its natural form and to share these experiences with those of a similar nature. We have made many good friends at the water's edge.

Please feel free to contact us directly should you need to know more or need help or advice on any aspect of game fishing in Scotland.
