Dallas Lodge and Findhorn Fishing Beats for 2006
It stands within its own grounds and well-tended gardens located some ten miles South of Elgin; and the charming town of Forres lies seven miles to the North. The comfortably furnished Lodge is offered on a fully catered basis including picnic lunches and can accommodate up to twelve guests. Dallas Lodge is also situated within a fifteen-minute drive to the Altyre fishings and thirty minutes to the Glenferness beats on the Findhorn River. ![]() The Lodge also has its own private beat along the charming little river Lossie within the Estate grounds. The Lossie is very much a spate river with good runs of salmon, grilse and sea trout through the summer months from July to September. Apart from the fishing facilities, there are many other attractions to offer for non-fishing partners and friends. There are numerous golf courses nearby including the championship course at Nairn. The river Spey is only twenty minutes away, where fishing may also be arranged on many of the private beats. ![]() A tour of one of the many Speyside distilleries is certainly not to be missed. The area is steeped in history and a visit to nearby Culloden battlefield is well worth seeing. If you have a passion for architecture and history you may want to venture out to see Fort George. There are also numerous castles such as Cawdor, Brodie and Ballindalloch to explore. The area is also a perfect place to see the outstanding wildlife. On the Estate we have resident Capercaillie, red squirrel, pine marten and even the odd wild Kellas cat has been seen from time to time. ![]() Findhorn Bay is only some nine miles away and as you sit outside the Kimberly Inn enjoying the very best of fresh seafood, you will always get a chance to spot the Osprey fishing for flatties or the odd sea trout. We are pleased to announce that we have several more weeks to offer for the 2006 season with private fishing on either the Altyre or Glenferness beats. There are availabilities from May through to August on both of these classic Findhorn beats. The Forres Angling Association water is most probably one of the most productive and best value day ticket beats in Scotland. With four miles of double bank fishing to offer from Red Craig down to the sea pool it is really great value for money. It fishes well throughout the season from March, but the summer months of July to September can be particularly productive here. ![]() Ian will be your host and guide during your stay at Dallas Lodge and will be only too pleased to arrange any transportation to and from either Inverness or Aberdeen airports. There is an excellent wine and whisky store, Gordon and MacPhail, nearby in Elgin and they are happy to receive and deliver your drinks orders to the Lodge prior to your arrival. If you have a party or group of friends who would be interested then please do contact me, ian@speycaster.net, for further information on availability and prices for the 2006 season. >>To view images from our growing online photo library click here
